Ownership change for a cat in MyCats can be done in two ways: by creating a PIN code (if new owner has MyCats account (already CFCA club member) or plans to join a CFCA club shortly) or by filling out Change Request.
- Ownership change with PIN code
Ownership change with PIN code can be used in cases, when new owner already is a member of a CFCA club or plans to join a club shortly. In order to use a PIN code, new owner must be a user of MyCats. Breeder creates a PIN code for kitten/cat and transfers it to the new owner. Received PIN code must be entered in MyCats within 30 days from date when code was generated. If code was not used, ownership change will be automatically cancelled.
If previous owner (for example, breeder) will continue to be one of the owners of this cat, also this person will need a code. In this case in field “Number of new owners” you need to mention number of total owners, including previous owner. PIN code must be inserted in MyCats within 30 days by all new owners. Date of ownership change in system will be the date, when PIN code was generated.
- How to create a PIN code?
To create a PIN code for ownership change, in cat’s card under tab “Basic Info” at first you need to click on button “Allow change of ownership”. Under cat’s name you will see a text “Change of ownership allowed”. Then, click on “Make a change of ownership”. New form will open, where you need to insert the number of new owners and cat transfer date.
If previous owner (for example, breeder) will continue to be one of the owners of this cat, also this person needs a code. In this case, in field “Number of new owners” you need to insert the total number of new owners, including the previous owner. By clicking button “Save”, a code will be generated, which can then be transferred to new owner.
- What to do in case I don’t want to allow change of ownership?
If you don’t want to allow change of ownership for a cat, in cat’s card under tab “Basic Info” you need to click on button “Prohibit the change of ownership”. Text under cat’s name “Change of ownership allowed” will be removed.
- Ownership change by using Change Request
If new owner is a member of any other federation or does not plan to become a member of a CFCA club, then ownership change is done by filling out a Change Request.
To create such request, in cat’s card tab “Change Requests” click on “Add” and choose “Ownership change, if PIN code is not used”. Here you need to add a proof of cat’s ownership change document and click on “Save”. After processing your application, the status of this request will be changed and ownership of this cat updated.
